TDL Staffing is seeking a meticulous and experienced Payroll Specialist to join their team in Fairbanks, AK. This full-time role offers competitive pay and involves managing payroll for multiple construction companies using specialized systems.
Skills & Qualifications:
Strong knowledge of payroll laws and accounting principles is essential, along with proficiency in Excel (VLOOKUP, PivotTables). Excellent communication, organizational skills, and a commitment to accuracy are required. The ideal candidate will be comfortable managing deadlines, maintaining confidentiality, working with payroll software, and collaborating in a team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process weekly and bi-weekly payroll accurately and confidentially
- Manage certified payroll and prepare related reports
- Perform payroll-related accounting tasks including benefits, tax, bank, union, and ledger reconciliations
- Handle data migration and validation between Workday and Viewpoint Spectrum
- Calculate retro payments, garnishments, union dues, fringes, and voluntary deductions
- Maintain deduction codes and process 401(k) contributions
- File federal, state, and year-end payroll reports
- Address payroll inquiries and resolve discrepancies
- Support internal audits and maintain payroll records
- Adhere to safety standards and perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
- Associate’s degree in Accounting with at least 1 year of payroll experience, or
- Minimum of 4 years payroll experience with basic college-level accounting coursework
- Experience with large companies or Native Corporations (preferred)
- Familiarity with multistate payroll, certified payroll, and union reporting (preferred)
- Construction industry payroll experience a plus
- Experience with Viewpoint Spectrum or similar integrated software (preferred)
- Must support a drug-free work environment
