Geophysical Institute Pumpkin Carving Contest:
The 2nd Annual Geophysical Institute Pumpkin Carving Contest will be held on Tuesday, October 30th in the Globe Room (Elvey Building, room 215) on the University of Alaska Fairbanks campus. Anyone can participate; there will be two categories to separate entries made by youth (ages 12 and under) and adults (13 and up). Please bring your carved pumpkin and pay your $5 entry fee by 11:30 a.m. on the day of the contest. Judging will be done by popular vote from 12 to 2 p.m. Cash prizes (50/50 of collected fees) will be given to the first place winners in each of the two entry fields. Geophysical Institute Trick-or-Treating:
On Wednesday, October 31st from 2 - 5 p.m. the Geophysical Institute will open its doors for the Trick-or-Treaters of Fairbanks. GI families and friends are welcome; we also invite youth from the community to participate. Maps will be provided for Trick-or-Treaters to find the designated offices in the building to collect candy.
Circle K’s 1st Annual Halloween Karnival & Food Drive at the Geophysical Institute:
Ghoulish goodies, eerie entertainment, creepy crafts, frightening face painting, scary snapshots & more at the 1st Annual Halloween Karnival & Food Drive hosted by Circle K at the Geophysical Institute on Wednesday, October 31 from 2 to 5 p.m. in the Globe Room (Elvey Building, room 215). Stop by for Trick-or-Treating in the Elvey Building and stay for even more fun-filled family-friendly activities. Suggested donation: one canned food item per child. Costumes are encouraged but not required.
Halloween Photos:
During the Geophysical Institute Trick-or-Treat on Wednesday, October 31 from 2 – 5 p.m., there will be a photographer on site to take keepsake photos of you or your child in costume in front of a spooky background. Swing by the GI Director’s Office (Elvey Building, room 601) to have your photo taken. Electronic and print copies of the keepsake photos will be available through the Design Services webpage (http://www.gi.alaska.edu/admin/design).
