FAIRBANKS CONCERT ASSOCIATION AND THE UAF THEATRE DEPARTMENT PRESENT A SERIES OF TALKS ON SIR ERNEST SHACKLETON, "Stories from the Explorers Club," in advance of the Split Knuckle Theatre performance of Endurance on November 21 and 22, 2014. The talks will take place at Pioneer Park at the Palace Saloon. Join us Thursday, November 13th at 7:00pm for " Polar Music in the Days of Whalers and Sailors" with Paul Krejci. Paul holds a Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Alaska Fairbanks, and combines the disciplines of music and anthropology in his research. In the summer of 2014, Krejci participated as a 38th Voyager, a project organized by Mystic Seaport, Connecticut, marking the return of the Charles W. Morgan, the last of America?s 19th-century whaling fleet to the sea. His study highlights the global importance of whaling music during the 19th and 20th centuries with a particular focus on the Arctic. Donations will be accepted at the door. Refreshments will be served. All attendees over 21 may enter a drawing for a very special door prize: a bottle of Shackleton Whiskey, to be drawn on the final evening. For more information please visit fairbanksconcert.org, or call 474-8081.
