"On Wings, Water & Wildlife"- First Friday show with Phyllis Tate
-
"This is a very personal show for me. As a lifelong Alaskan, artist, licensed pilot and boat captain I have lived and traveled around much of the state. The primary purpose of these aviation paintings is to honor 10 early day Alaska women pilots I have known or heard of. The series begins with Alaska's first woman pilot, Marvel Crosson and ends with Ellen Paneok, Alaska's first female Native commercial Alaskan pilot. All but one of the paintings were painted from old black and white photos, usually from the family of the pilot. The remainder of the show captures scenes from of my Alaska travels and memories,"-Phyllis Tate. Ms. Tate will do a presentation about history behind these pictures at 6:30. Under 21 are welcome with parent or guardian.
