JPARC EIS Briefing
-
Alaskan Command Subject Matter Experts will provide a briefing on Friday, May 4th, in the Borough Assembly Chambers starting at 9:30 am on the Joint Pacific Alaska Range Complex (JPARC) Draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) proposals to the Fairbanks Chamber.
Description From Alaskan Command Public Affairs:
The JPARC is a premier military training venue in Alaska that provides unmatched opportunities for present and future service, joint, interagency, and multinational training. Currently, the JPARC is comprised of approximately 65,000 square miles of airspace, 2,490 square miles of land space with 1.5 million acres of maneuver land, and 42,000 square nautical miles of sea and airspace in the Gulf of Alaska. The proposed modernizations and enhancements to the JPARC are required because of significant advances in war fighting technology; advances in combat tactics and lessons learned from combat; the need for realistic, yet efficient training; and requirements for the military to train to operate jointly. For more detailed information on the JPARC Draft EIS, please go to the JPARC website, www.jparceis.com. This briefing will help the Fairbanks community leadership understand the proposals and alternatives in detail prior to public hearings. The JPARC Draft EIS public hearings will be held in Fairbanks on Saturday, May 19th, from 10:00 .m. until 2:00 p.m., and again at 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at the UAF Campus.JPARC EIS BriefingDate and Time
