EIS Scoping Meetings

Wear red to show your support!
Even though Alaska’s congressional delegation was successful in delaying Air Force plans to move Eielson’s F-16 squadron to Anchorage, the Air Force is still going ahead with an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS), which is a prerequisite to moving the F-16s.
Why you should care: One in every 10 jobs in the FNSB owes its existence to Eielson AFB. One in 7 jobs in construction would be lost if Eielson closed. There is no sector that would not be profoundly affected. The base contributes $450 million each year in wages, salaries, and earnings to local businesses. Without the 354th Fighter Wing, that would be just $76 million. Property values would fall, and local school funding would be cut.
How you can help: Show your support for keeping the F-16s at Eielson by attending one of the local EIS scoping meetings the Air Force will hold on February 6th and 7th. It is not necessary to testify unless you wish to – your presence alone will help!
