Clean Air Challenge Kick-Off
-
REI will host a Challenge Kick Off Saturday, March 5 to mark the start of fundraising for the American Lung Association’s annual Clean Air Challenge. The event is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 19 College Road in Fairbanks.
The Clean Air Challenge, Alaska's premier cycling event, launches Saturday, May 7 in Talkeetna. This unique fundraiser gives trekkers multiple distance options ranging from 10 miles to 100 miles, with all loops starting and finishing at the Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge.
The event, now in its 32nd year, provides comprehensive rider support, superb organization, medical and mechanical support, and lunch and snack rest stops. The single-day route also includes family-friendly ride options and is suitable for all bike types.
The $500 minimum fundraising supports lung health in Alaska and provides the trekker/fundraiser with the ride on Saturday, an after-ride feast and fete and an overnight stay at Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge (shared room). Optional higher fundraising levels offer incentives such as a private room, a two night stay, mountain-facing room preference, fundraising jersey and a VIP brewery tour with Denali Brewing Company.
Visit www.CleanAirChallengeAK.org to register or attend the Challenge Kick Off where riders can register on site, meet ALA staff and volunteers, enjoy snacks and register for door prizes.
The American Lung Association in Alaska is a non-profit, voluntary public health organization working to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease in Alaska. Programs focus on air quality, tobacco prevention and cessation and lung health.
