Mining is one of the brightest spots in the Alaskan economy. Annually, the industry brings in $180 million in exploration activities; and an additional $250 million in mine construction and other capital investment. It also creates about 4,600 jobs with an average wage of $100,000 a year. This Spring you can learn everything you wanted to know about mining in Alaska, right in your backyard! The Alaska Miners Association will be holding their 2014 Biennial Conference April 7?13 in Fairbanks. The conference and associated events will be held at the Carlson Center. The convention will feature a multitude of lectures and workshops from industry experts; field trips to the Pogo and Ft Knox Mines; a HUGE trade show; and the opportunity to network with individuals involved with all aspects of Alaska?s mining industry.
