• Advocacy Coordinator

    Are you passionate about public policy, community engagement, and making an impact on the business climate in Interior Alaska? The Greater Fairbanks Chamber of Commerce is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented professional to join our team as Advocacy Coordinator.
     
    In this role, you will lead the coordination and implementation of the Chamber’s Advocacy Agenda, serving as a liaison to five advocacy committees, monitoring local, state, and federal policy issues, drafting position letters and resolutions, and assisting with event planning for political forums and the Chamber’s annual Juneau Fly-In.

    Key Responsibilities:
    • Monitor local, state, and federal legislation and issues that impact the business community.
    • Facilitate and support advocacy committees through meeting planning, agenda preparation, and communication.
    • Draft timely resolutions, position statements, and advocacy letters in collaboration with committee members and Chamber leadership.
    • Coordinate and manage advocacy events, including political forums and meetings with policymakers.
    • Collaborate with the Communications Coordinator to deliver clear, effective external messaging around advocacy efforts.
    • Ensure smooth communication across committees, staff, and the Board of Directors regarding advocacy positions and actions.
     
    What We’re Looking For:
    • Strong writing, research, editing, and verbal communication skills.
    • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
    • Professionalism, discretion, and a collaborative mindset.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and comfort using CRM and online legislative tracking tools.
     
    Qualifications:
    • Required: Valid Alaska Driver's License and at least 1 year of experience in policy research, government relations, volunteer management, and/or public relations. 
    • Preferred: A Bachelor’s degree or 3-5 years of equivalent relevant experience. Familiarity with the Alaska legislative process and community organizations is a plus.
     
    Additional Information:
    • Position Type: Full-time, Salary, Non-Exempt
    • Benefits: Health insurance, paid time off, and a retirement plan with employer match.
    • Work Schedule: Primarily Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with occasional early mornings or evening events.
    • Location: Chamber office in downtown Fairbanks (not eligible for full-time remote work).
    • Travel: Limited (less than 10%)
