    The Teacher Associate is primarily responsible for being a positive role model for children and staff. Prepares and implements weekly lesson plans and provides guidance through interaction, intervention, praise, and recognition to the children’s accomplishment and continually maintaining a safe clean healthy learning environment for the children in care.
     
    Must have excellent communication skills and have an understanding of child development, the ability to care for children, and the skills to work with children, family members, department staff, community agencies, and staff of the childcare facility to be considered for this position.
     
    Responsibilities Include:
    • Prepare and implement weekly lesson plans of provided curriculum.
    • Greet parents, children, and staff in a positive manner.
    • Respond appropriately to the needs of children and staff.
    • Maintain an environment that encourages the children’s participation, leading activities, and providing a variety of age-appropriate learning and social experiences.
    • Maintain a safe environment for children and reinforcing staff to follow classroom lesson plans.
    • Conform to all State regulations concerning licensing, following D.E.C. regulations, fire and safety procedures, maintaining a safe & healthy environment.
    • Share housekeeping responsibilities to maintain a clean, orderly workable environment.
    • Maintain accurate records on children’s attendance, behavioral issues, growth and development, and that children are enrolled in assigned classroom.
    • Be aware of children with food allergies and follow rules concerning food substitutes.
    • Complete a daily walk, checking all areas for safety concerns.
    • Sterilize classroom toys daily as needed.
    • Other duties as assigned.
     
    This is a full-time position Monday-Friday with varied shifts between the hours of 7am-6pm. Pay starting at $20.50-$21.75 depending on experience.
     
    Requirements:
    • Must have a high school diploma G.E.D. and a minimum of 12 ECE Credits from an accredited University, or a BA. Or a Childcare Development Associate credential (CDA)
    • Current Alaska driver's license, good driving record, vehicle insurance (if applicable)
    • Current Food handlers card
    • Be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds.
    • Current infant/child CPR and First Aid.
    • Background will be viewed.
