The UAF Student Ceramics Art Guild is thrilled to host renowned ceramic artist Dawn Holder for two days of demonstrations and an artist talk!

Dawn Holder creates stunning ceramic and mixed-media pieces that explore how we connect with the world around us. Her work blends art, nature, and culture in ways that are both beautiful and thought-provoking. At her artist talk and demo, students and community members can see her creative process in action and learn how she uses everyday materials to tell powerful visual stories.
This event is free and open to everyone—students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the community. Come learn, be inspired, and support the arts at UAF!

About Dawn Holder:
Dawn Holder uses ceramics, sculpture, and installation to investigate the myriad of human forces that shape our shared landscape. Using porcelain as a primary medium, her work combines diverse influences, such as Minimalism, Eco-Feminism, and the Necropastoral, to explore topics such as the American lawn, the history of monuments, and ecological imbalance.
Holder lives in Indianapolis, Indiana, and is an Associate Professor at Indiana University Indianapolis’ Herron School of Art. Holder teaches in the Ceramics area and currently serves as Graduate Director of the MFA in Visual Arts. She is the recipient of numerous awards and grants and has shown her work globally. She earned an MFA in Ceramics from the Rhode Island School of Design and a BFA in Ceramics from the University of Georgia.
About SCAG:
SCAG is a vibrant group of UAF ceramic students and community members dedicated to sharing the art and craft of clay. This student-run club regularly hosts public presentations and workshops featuring world-renowned ceramic artists. In addition to these educational events, SCAG partners on fundraising efforts and community initiatives, including their popular pottery sales. These extracurricular experiences are open not only to students but also to the wider community, fostering creativity and connection through the ceramic arts.
