Christian Thought Forum
-
Bethel Church (1310 Farmers Loop Road) will host its eighth annual Christian Thought Forum on Friday, October 19, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., and Saturday, October 20, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Each year this event features nationally known Christian thought leaders, addressing challenging topics facing Christians today, from a biblical perspective. This year's speakers are Nigel Cameron, Ph.D. (President of the Center for Policy on Emerging Technologies, in Washington D.C.) and Paul Copan, Ph.D. (Author of Is God a Moral Monster?: Making Sense of the Old Testament God). Cameron will address bioethical issues, including fertility treatments, euthanasia, stem-cell research, human cloning, and robots in a talk titled, “Bioethics: Making Life, Taking Life, and Faking Life – How to be a Christian in a Brave New World.” Copan will speak about “Slavery, Rape, and Ethnic Cleansing: Is the God of the Old Testament a Bully, Murderer and an Oppressor?” This event is free to attend and open to the public.
