Curator Lecture with Phoebe Rohrbacher
-
Join Fairbanks Arts for a special discussion with Phoebe Gonzales Rohrbacher, curator for the current Bear Gallery group exhibition, Interior Visions: Selections from Fairbanks Resource Agency’s New Progressive Art Projects. Rohrbacher facilitates the art program at Fairbanks Resource Agency (FRA), a program she co-created with Lisa Sawyer and has continued to develop. This exhibition shares the artwork created through this program and is inspired by the nationwide movement to include people with developmental disabilities in contemporary art. This lecture will also include a walk through the gallery to view the exhibition.
A visual artist herself, Rohrbacher has had solo exhibits in Juneau and has participated in group exhibits in Seattle and NYC. She was a recipient of a 2010 Rasmuson Individual Artist Award and a 2007 Juneau Arts and Humanities Council Grant. Since 2008, she has worked in various capacities with individuals who have developmental disabilities. Before coming to FRA, she worked as an art facilitator at the Canvas, an integrated art studio in Juneau, Alaska.
