The Autism Society of Alaska is pleased to offer this Second Annual Autism Conference.In 2016 the Autism Society of Alaska hosted the first annual conference to bring together the community in the name of autism. We reached 2,550 people through the conference events! This year the keynote speaker will be Congressional award winner Michelle Garcia Winner. She will be speaking on Social Thinking, a framework of strategies she pioneered for developing social thinking and social skills. There will also be eight breakout sessions featuring local speakers and exhibit booths for attendees to discover what is offered in Alaska. Schedule: Thursday, October 5th 8:30 - 3:00 Michelle Garcia Winner Topic: Implementing Social Thinking Concepts and Vocabulary for 5-Young Adults Exhibit Booth Exploration Friday, October 6th at Pioneer Park Civic Center 8:30 - 10:00 Michelle Garcia Winner Topic: Focus on Teens & Adults with Social Learning Needs 10:15 - 4:30 featuring 8 breakout sessions on a variety of autism related topics TBA Exhibit Booth Exploration We are pleased to announce we are partnering with UAF School of Education to provide CEUs as well as working with the American Speech-Language-Hearing-Association to offer ASHA credit for this conference.
