The American Legion, C. Russell Huber Post 57 was selected to host the 89th American Legion, Department of Alaska Convention. The American Legion Auxiliary and the Sons of The American Legion will also hold their state conventions. This event draws 250 delegates from around the state. Wedgewood Resort will be the convention site, with other activities around town. The American Legion was chartered by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic, war-time veterans? organization, and it has become a community-service organization of today. Legion Family programs include A.L. Baseball, Boys & Girls State/Nation, National Oratorical Contest, and Legion Riders.
