LifeMed Alaska Breaking Ground on new Fairbanks Hanger
Anchorage, Alaska — July 15, 2020 — LifeMed Alaska announced today that it will break ground on a new Fairbanks hanger Thursday, July 16 at 11:30am. The new site is located south of the FedEx Ship Center on Old Airport Road and Media is invited to attend this special event.
According to LifeMed Alaska CEO, Russell Edwards, “We’re very excited to launch this project. Our new facility will enable us to better meet the medical transportation needs of our communities, including facilitating support of more aircraft and adding opportunities to supplement the skills of clinicians throughout interior Alaska.”
Construction of the new facility is expected to be complete and in full operation by July 2021. The current LifeMed Alaska Fairbanks base opened in 2010 and houses one Lear Jet and one King Air. The new hangar will double the hangar space and adds an additional 6,600 square feet of office space, allowing for additional aircraft as well as training rooms for ongoing medical training programs offered by LifeMed Alaska.
LifeMed Alaska provides 24/7 critical care air ambulance services with full-scope transports for adult, pediatric, neonate and high-risk obstetric patients. LifeMed Alaska employs 135 staff at regional air bases in Anchorage, Bethel, Dutch Harbor, Fairbanks, Juneau, Kodiak, Palmer and Soldotna. It’s transport fleet includes Bell 407 GXP Helicopters, Lear Jets, Beechcraft King Air 200’s, and Cessna 208 Grand Caravans fully equipped with the latest in medical transport technology. LifeMed also serves Anchorage and the MatSu Valley with ground-based ambulances.
