    Warehouse Operations Assistant/Resale Coordinator

    Are you looking for a job that helps you give back to your community and keep electronics out of the landfill? Are you inspired by recycling and want to help grow the reuse economy in Fairbanks? Green Star is looking to fill our Warehouse Operations Assistant/Resale Coordinator position.  The employee will receive, sort, and palletize electronics for shipment to recyclers, as well as manage the repair and resale of used electronics as a fundraiser for our non-profit. 

    This is a part-time position located in Fairbanks. A full job description and application instructions are included below. 

    • Salary: $12-15/hour with a 20% commission on sales
    • Hours: This is a part-time position with flexible hours, not to exceed 30 hours/week. This position requires weekends, evenings, and some holidays.
    • Benefits: Paid holidays, mileage/travel reimbursement, flexible schedule, job-crafting, and a dog/kid friendly workplace.
    • Start Date: Position will start ASAP, with reduced hours during a two month trial period where the candidate will receive hands-on job training from our current Warehouse Operations Assistant/Resale Coordinator, before starting at the full 30 hours.

    Warehouse Operations Assistant Duties – 50%

    The Warehouse Operations Assistant will support and report to the Operations and Warehouse Manager for all warehouse tasks under the Electronics Recycling Program. The Warehouse Operations Assistant must demonstrate excellent people skills, willingness to lead a diverse team, and problem solve under pressure. This position will interface with the Village Backhaul program and requires the ability to multitask and prioritize. The Warehouse Operations Assistant:

    • Receives electronics once per week from the Central Recycling Facility
    • Sorts and palletizes electronics for shipment
    • Loads trailers using forklift and pallet jack 
    • Maintains warehouse layout and material flow
    • Schedules services, negotiates, and collects payment from vendors
    • Trains and manages volunteers of all ages and abilities during two volunteer Saturdays a month
    • Adheres to state, federal, and Green Star health and safety regulations
    • Accomplishes warehouse operations and organization mission by completing tasks in a timely and organized manner
    • Updates job knowledge by pursuing educational opportunities and shares knowledge with others

     

    Resale Coordinator Duties – 50%

    The Resale Coordinator will contribute to the development of the short and long term plans for the program, monitor progress, assure adherence and evaluate performance. The Resale Coordinator must demonstrate proficient knowledge and experience at electronic resale including record keeping, excellent people skills, timeliness, great organizational skills, and knowledge of best shipping practices. Working with a team of volunteers, the Resale coordinator: 

    • Accepts new material and develops sounds protocol for resale item selection
    • Establishes a system to allow volunteers to determine and recognize items of reasonable resale value 
    • Maintains inventory of working/vintage electronics and researches feasibility for resale
    • Works with and trains volunteers to rebuild and repair electronics for resale
    • Advertises the items on Amazon/eBay or by trying to sell locally via Facebook groups, Craigslist, or by developing agreements with repair shops
    • Maintains quantity and quality of products on a rotating basis
    • Creates and keeps accurate database records and reconciles orders for customers
    • Adheres to the Green Star certified recycler ethic and attains valid credentials from buyers
    • Maintains sound ethic related to data security and safety
    • Updates job knowledge by pursuing educational opportunities and shares knowledge with others

     

    Qualifications:
    • Highly organized
    • Exceptional customer service and negotiation skills
    • Able to train, organize, and lead volunteers in a variety of settings
    • Proficiency in GoogleSuite, Slack, Excel, PayPal, Ebay, and other resale sites
    • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds consistently
    • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to Green Star’s mission to reduce waste and increase recycling in Interior Alaska
    • Preferred:
      • OSHA HAZMAT Safety Training or Certifications
      • Skills in electronic repair and refurbishment
      • Knowledge of electronics recycling and pertinent recycling issues
      • Use of personal truck with a hitch for hauling electronics
      • Experience driving a forklift and operating other typical warehouse equipment
