SUMMARY
FYSA is seeking an Executive Director to serve as the strategic, operational, and visionary leader of our organization. The Executive Director is responsible for all aspects of the Organization's daily operations, both internal and external. She/he will be responsible for ensuring on-field programs (Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter) are effectively delivered to FYSA members, while also managing finance, administrative operations, volunteer resources, marketing, vendor relations, sponsorship and community outreach programs.
The Executive Director works in partnership with the Board of Directors to develop strategies and plans to achieve the organization’s vision, mission, and values.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Create and ensure that FYSA delivers the quality and quantity of programs that meet and exceed FYSA’s needs

Lead all FYSA staff, coaches, and volunteers, either directly or indirectly

Organize and assist direct reports to plan, adopt, and implement organization goals, policies, operating procedures, and standards

Develop and maintain a positive line of communication among members and staff
-
Establish and maintain positive and effective relationships with partner organizations, local political and community leaders, and allied educational and youth sports organizations in order to more effectively serve program participants and promote the sport of soccer.

Establish employment and administrative policies and procedures for all functions and day-to-day operations of the Organization

Serve as spokesperson for FYSA

Maintain relationships with Fairbanks North Star Borough, Parks and Rec and other officials and the requirements of the ongoing field usage agreements, and develop future agreements

Act as the Organizations’ liaison for all technical matters involving other organizations (SAY Soccer, Alaska Youth Soccer Association) and other governing bodies and leagues (e.g., Referees Association,

Serve as trusted advisor of the highest integrity to the Board of Directors

Attend and assist with monthly meetings of the board, as well as periodic committee meetings

Regularly update board members on priorities, initiatives, and matters, as well as the landscape of the sport and associated opportunities and challenges

Ensure compliance with SafeSport requirements (e.g., coaches and staff)

Facilitate the practicing of the organization’s mission and core values
QUALIFICATIONS
The preferred candidate will be self-motivated with ability to work with others and independently; have strong leadership, organizational and communication skills; and have an entrepreneurial spirit.

Bachelor’s degree in sports administration, recreation, education, not-for-profit related disciplines or other related business disciplines or combination of work experience

At least 5 years of mid to senior level not-for-profit association/organization leadership or other related transferable business experience

Soccer background/knowledge is strongly preferred

Youth and competitive sport specific program management experience. Relevant working knowledge of youth organizations, including but not limited to, working experience with sports coaching, recreation, and wellness programs, and/or a similar role with responsibilities for the development and support of athletes, coaches, and staff

Strong leadership, organizational, communication and motivational skills

Excellent interpersonal and member-relations skills. With demonstrated ability to build strong and supportive relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders

Experience with volunteer Boards and committees

Experience leading staff and volunteers

Awareness of and passion for the need to actively develop diversity, equity, and inclusivity throughout the sport of soccer

Willingness to travel state-wide and work non-traditional hours, within a sports league atmosphere

Ability to work nights and weekends to support games and events
