    Our client:   A major Alaskan non-profit member-owned utility cooperative is seeking an influential leader to advance the company’s position on strategic initiatives through business development, sustainability, key accounts and member services activities. 
    This is a key executive role serving as chief spokesperson on utility, business development and sustainability initiatives impacting Chugach.

    Would you like to: 
    • Develop and maintain strategic plan and initiatives
    • Work with all levels of government, industry and community organizations to identify opportunities to benefit Chugach
    • Evaluate merger and acquisition opportunities to reduce risk and improve operational efficiencies
    • Identify new business opportunities and markets
    • Discover and inform CEO on any opportunities or threats which may impact achievement of organizational mission, goals and directives
    • As part of the budget process, evaluate and prioritize improvement projects with an emphasis on strategic initiatives for long-term viability
    • Ensure reliable sources of natural gas, considering changes in supply options, customer loads and renewable generation technologies
    • Reduce single contingency risk by investigating alternative fuels, suppliers and delivery methods 
    • Communicate organizational strategic direction through participation in public relations activities and interactions with officials and staff at federal, state, and local levels 
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with cooperative members and members of all levels of government
    • Identify legislative issues affecting the company, seek resolutions, communicate company position on the issues and testify before government committees in support of the organization 
    • Develop and achieve sustainable corporate practices including establishment of sustainability goals and objectives
    • Perform strategic analysis of sustainability opportunities, develop strategies to achieve those objectives, propose projects for approval 
    • Actively participate in planning, approving, revising and implementing overall policies and strategies
     
    Ideally you have:
    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Economics, Finance, Business Administration required. Advanced degree preferred
    • Ten years of progressively responsible management experience in the electric utility industry, including at least five years in senior management
    • Strong familiarity with all aspects of the business including distribution, transmission, and generation of electric power, fuel supply and related areas
    • Demonstrated experience in government relations, public speaking, organizational management and finance required
    • Union environment experience preferred
    • Advanced training in utility operations, engineering, finance, statistics and economics related to the utility industry highly desirable
