    Duties:
    Develop training materials, in coordination with the Budget Team, for labor redistributions, budget revisions, journal vouchers, and other budget topics as needed for direct and indirect delivery to UAF staff. Ensure all materials are accurate and current, serve as primary contact for staff to answer questions, and ensure compliance on all submitted documents. Solicit and compile suggestions from staff for process improvements and coordinate process updates at the direction of the Budget Analyst.

    Monitor several central accounting functions including ITE awards, UFB distribution, strategic reallocations, tracking of employee relocations, and other central activities. This includes preparation of all related documentation, including journal vouchers and budget revisions, for Budget Manager.

    Work closely with Budget Analyst and Budget Manager, and other OFA staff to accomplish projects. Duties include development and maintenance of reports posted to the Finance & Accounting website such as labor budget-to-expended and fund activity reports. Liaison with UA HR to ensure processes work together. Participate in integrated teams to help with processes that affect both the Budget Office and HR. Annual projects include (but are not limited to) assistance with the development and implementation of the annual operating budget and completion of year-end budget reconciliation.

    Responsible for day-to-day maintenance of position attributes, MyUA budget processing and coordination of budget revisions and labor redistributions submitted to Finance & Accounting prior to Budget Manager's approval. Coordinate amendments with departments and resolve lack of documentation or funding identification. Enter labor redistributions submitted by departments. Advise departments on the correct document preparation. Regularly interact with departments to assist with procedures and problems. Ensuring position control compliance using Banner and data bases and budget spreadsheets.

    Backup for running accounts payable checks, journal voucher entry, and budget revision entry. Coordinate records storage and retention for Finance & Accounting, and ensure both accuracy of storage and maintenance of retention schedules.

    This position is a full-time, Non-Exempt, Grade 78 ($23.84 an hour, DOE), 12-month position, complete with a competitive salary and UA employee benefits package.     KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
    Excellent skills with developing reports and spreadsheets in Excel.
    Familiar with journal voucher preparation, Banner, TOAD.
    Knowledge of budget and human resource systems.
    Working knowledge of UAF accounting procedures, Federal, State, and UA regulations.
    Knowledge of accounting theory and generally accepted accounting principles.
    Knowledge of rules and regulations associated with fiscal activities and compliance requirements.
    Strong analytical, research and problem solving skills.
    Good written and oral communication, self-directing skills, and ability to organize and prioritize a diversified workload.
    Ability to foster effective working relationships and build consensus from staff in other departments.
    Ability to formulate unique and creative solutions for problems.

    TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:
    Three years of accounting /payroll experience/training or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

    REQUIRED EDUCATION OR TRAINING:
    Associate’s degree in applied Accounting or related field and three years of relevant experience, or
    an equivalent combination of training and experience. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
