VFW Hosts Horseshoe & Ping Pong Tourney
Tourney proceeds will fund local veterans programs
Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Golden Heart Post 3629 will host a horseshoe and ping pong tourney on July 27 at the post located in Graehl, at 324 2nd Street. A full day of family-friendly activities are planned, including games for the kids and snacks throughout the afternoon. Sign-ups begin at 12:00 p.m., with an entry fee of $5.00 for each event.
BBQ food will be served up beginning at 4:00 p.m. and will feature delicious brisket, baked beans, cole slaw and rolls for $12.00. 12 and under are $6.00. To go boxes are available.
A fun evening of music is planned with DJ “Slick” after the completion of the tourney.
Proceeds will benefit local veterans programs supported by VFW Post 3629, including Stand Down slated for August 16-17 in Fairbanks. Stand Down provides a variety of services and resources to military veterans who have a veteran ID, upwards of 500, many of whom are homeless. The post also has adopted the Stryker Brigade unit at Fort Wainwright.
