The eSports and gaming industries are both multi-billion dollar industries that are seeing growth not only just in business but in education as well. UAF is hosting the first inaugural eSports and Gaming Summit on Saturday, March 30th at the Wood Center. The Summit will provide an interdisciplinary platform for anyone interested in gaming and eSports, with the goal of expanding eSports and gaming related opportunities around Alaska. Don't miss out on the fun! There will be vendors, free food, a Smash Bro's tournament, free play, and prizes. There are three contests going on throughout the day, a logo contest, a best piece of gaming art contest, and the Smash Bro’s Tournament. All contests have a $250 gift card for the winner and all are open for anyone to join! For more contest information go to the registration page. The Summit will also feature guest speakers from around the country and state on the eSports and Gaming Industry. The keynote speaker is Jimmy Chan from Twitch who will talk about his experience working in the eSports industry. Discussions at the event will include eSports in Alaska, education related to eSports/Gaming, diversity in eSports, and many other topics! EVERYONE is invited to attend the event the event! However, registration is required by March 22nd if you want to attend the breakfast or lunch, both of which are free. The activities, eSports match, and sessions are open to all and don’t require registration, only the breakfast and lunch require registration. We hope to see you there!
