Public tours will be given at Poker Flat Research Range from June 12 to July 10. The public is invited to tour portions of the lower-range with guides from the Geophysical Institute Public Relations Office. Tours are scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. and last approximately one hour in length. Poker Flat Research Range is marked on the Steese Highway by a large rocket and sign at the entrance of the range on Neal Brown Road. The public may gather in the Administrative building, the first building encountered within the range. A conference room inside will be the starting point of the tour. The Geophysical Institute at the University of Alaska Fairbanks owns and operates Poker Flat Research Range, the only non-federal, university-owned rocket range in the world. It is located 30 miles north of Fairbanks, off the Steese Highway. Contact Kaz Alvarez for more information at kaz@gi.alaska.edu or 907-474-5036.
