The mental health system in Fairbanks is inadequate for those who are in need. Funding has been cut significantly since 2009 while the amount of patients is still on the rise for outpatient and inpatient facilities. The question at hand is why is this system so broken? What is the big picture? Access to treatment facilities, providers, cost of care and bureaucratic insurance issues are just the beginning of the problem. Join us Wednesday April 2nd at 6:00pm at the Noel Wien Library Auditorum for a UAF student facilitated discussion about fixing Fairbanks? mental health care system.
