About Chancellor Tom Case:
Tom Case, Lt. Gen. USAF (Ret.), became chancellor in May, 2011. Upon completing his Air Force career, he was appointed dean of UAA's College of Business and Public Policy (CBPP). He has also served as president and chief operating officer of a state-owned, independently operated Aerospace Corporation.
During his time as dean, CBPP helped add several new certificate and degree programs, including a graduate certificate in Global Logistics, an online graduate Logistics certificate program, and a real estate focused track in the Bachelor of Business Administration program. Tom also played an instrumental role in the formation of CBPP's Experimental Economics Laboratory.
During his first year as chancellor, UAA broke ground on the new sports arena, opened the new Health Sciences Building, celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Institute of Social and Economic Research and Engineering program as well as the 40th anniversary of the Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana, Idaho and the University of Washington School of Medicine medication education program (WWAMI) and Nursing program.
Tom is focused on helping students succeed in their college goals. Under his watch UAA became one of only 11 universities nationwide to have a VetSuccess program on campus, designed to support UAA's growing military and veteran student population. UAA also successfully completed an International and Intercultural Lab, laying the foundation for continued focus on preparing students to compete in the global economy.
UAA faculty and students are engaged in impressive research. Tom is providing incentives for expanding research, innovation and entrepreneurship by providing chancellor funds for the new INNOVATE Awards as well as supporting the creation of Seawolf Holdings Inc. that will provide early stage investment for startups.
Married to his wife Susan for 43 years, they have a daughter Donna, son-in-law Daniel and two granddaughters, Anna and Rachel.
Tom received his Bachelor of Science from the U.S. Air Force Academy , Master of Science degree in Systems Management from the University of Southern California, and is a graduate of the National War College, the U.S. Army Command & General Staff College, the Air War College, and Emory University's Advanced Management Program.
