The Goldpanners play a very high level of baseball at Growden Park in the heart of Fairbanks, Many of the past members of the team have gone on to star in the major leagues. (Tom Seaver and Dave Winfield for two).
Even though baseball and softball have become a major passion among Fairbanks residents in the last 20 years, the Goldpanners have somehow lost a bit of their luster and Growden has gotten old. However, there is a new president and a new board of directors with a professed object to restore the team and the ballpark.
Baseball at a high caliber should regain its stature under the direction of an mostly new management, thereby providing a cornerstone for the continued development of the sport in the community.
