Alaskan residents living (or playing) in the back country often forgo large energy consumers such as hot water heaters and furnaces. However, there are energy sources available utilizing solar cells, small windmills and propellers which can power cooking, limited hot water, laundry, sanitation, refrigeration, space heating, interior lighting, communications and home electronics.
This lecture will discuss the practical options available for saving money and increasing the quality of life at fishing, hunting, mining camps or small off-grid cabins.
