The walk will begin at SOAP’s Drop-In Center, 530 7th Avenue suite 2B, and end back on 7th Avenue at the First Presbyterian Church, where we will hold a reception with announcements, food and hot drinks.
The Candlelight Vigil draws awareness to the public issue of homeless and at-risk youth in Fairbanks. By the community coming together with the local youth agencies, FCA & SOAP, Fairbanks Youth Advocates (FYA), ACCESS Alaska and Joel’s Place, we can illuminate the downtown streets by candlelight. Our candles and signs will show our support and give hope for the many youth currently living on their own. This year’s walk will be even more special because our route will allow us to pass the construction site of FYA’s new youth shelter, “The Door” on 10th Avenue.
