For its 100-year anniversary, the Alaska Railroad releases two 2023 annual art prints / posters at a sale-and-signing event 4-7 p.m., Friday, Jan. 6, 2023 at the Fairbanks Depot. Come greet and obtain signatures from the two Alaskan artists who created the original artwork. An original oil painting by North Pole artist William “Art” Chase depicts nine locomotives influential to the railroad’s transportation development over the decades. An original charcoal pencil drawing by Nenana artist Noah Nolywaika depicts the Nenana depot and President Harding driving a golden spike to complete the railroad in 1923. Take advantage of free parking, a free drawing for round-trip rail travel for 2, and first chance to collect commemorative and limited edition centennial railroad artwork.
