The 8(a) Business Development and HUBZone programs are designed to give small businesses a "leg up" in the Federal marketplace. But there are eligibility requirements to meet and regulations to follow. To participate in 8(a), a company must be at least 51% owned and operated by individuals who are "socially and economically disadvantaged." What does that mean, and who qualifies? The HUBZone program assists small businesses in economically depressed geographical regions. Here, too, there are rules and regulations to follow, and program participation requirements to meet. However, the benefits of these programs to your business can be tremendous! Companies in both programs can receive sole-source or participate in limited competition contract set-asides. Come learn what it takes to qualify and become a certified 8(a) or HUBZone business, and start reaping the rewards!
