DESCRIPTION:U.S. Army Alaska will host a 5K fun run Tuesday\, Sept. 13 at 7 a.m. on Fort Wainwright as part of an Army-wide opportunity to raise awareness and understanding to successfully eliminate suicide and encourage use of Army suicide prevention support services available. Soldiers\, family members\, and civilians are invited to join the Army as they stand shoulder to shoulder and kick off their suicide prevention month to raise awareness. The 5K is just one of many scheduled events for the month of September. U.S. Army Alaska will set up white boots displays at Fort Wainwright and Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson\, hold safeTalk training sessions\, resiliency awareness training and suicide intervention training aimed to assist Soldiers\, families and Army civilians with their challenges. Registration on race day starts at 6 a.m.
