DESCRIPTION:The museum will be having some children's activities at the museum that day which is sponsored by Wells Fargo Bank Alaska.\n\nThe archeology and paleontology departments will be open downstairs.\n\nEarth Sciences - dinosaurs and other ancient creatures such as the wooly mammoth\n\nOrnithology - birds of all types\; owls\, ravens\, chickadees\n\nIchthyology - fish of all types\; salmon\, pike\, grayling\n\nArcheology - ancient human artifacts\n\nThese are the museum research labs where faculty members actually perform research on specimens they find while conducting field research. In these labs are actual dinosaur bones\, tools used by people living in Alaska thousands of years ago\, as well as a taxidermy raven that is so lifelike you expect it to peck you! These labs are only opened to the public on special occasions. This is a behind the scenes look at the research that makes our museum exhibits possible.\n\n \n\nAlso\, running now in our special exhibit space is Hibernation and the Science of Cold\, featuring live hibernating ground squirrels\, video feed from a bear den\, as well as activities for children of many ages.
