SUMMARY:GML: Education's trajectory
DESCRIPTION:Education's trajectory\n\nBy Commissioner Mike Hanley\n \n\nAlaska's employers should be able to look locally first to fill their workforce needs. The outcome of our public education system should be to prepare students to move into degree and training programs that allow them to fill Alaska's jobs. Unfortunately\, for too long\, the expectations for learning in our schools hasn't set enough of our children on that path towards success. With a new vision and new tools in place\, though\, we are messaging new expectations for our students and our educational system. The question is\, do we have the will to face some hard realities in order to make the necessary improvements.\n\n \n\nCommissioner Hanley will roll out the results of Alaska's new measurements at this forum.\n\nReservations are strongly encouraged.
