DESCRIPTION:Join Fairbanks Arts in the Bear Gallery for our May exhibitions: Intertwining Worlds by Ina Timling and Forget-Me-Not: Art Therapy with Alaska's Military Population curated by Alexis Castriotta\, Art Therapist\, MA\, ATR-BC.\n \n\nIna Timling is a printmaker based in Fairbanks\, Alaska. After completing her Ph.D. in Biology at the University of Alaska- Fairbanks\, she started taking printmaking classes with Todd Sherman and David Mollett. Since then\, she has participated in several exhibitions in Fairbanks and Anchorage (AK) as well as Solomon (MD). \n\n \n\nIn this exhibition\, Ina explores the intertwining worlds in which she finds herself\; her childhood home in Northern Germany and her current home in Alaska\, as well as the worlds of science and art.\n\n \n\nIna Timling will be at the opening reception in the Bear Gallery on Friday\, May 6 from 5-7 pm. \n \n\nForget-me-not: Art Therapy with Alaska's Military Population is a selection of expressive works created by active duty and retired military members in Alaska while working with Alexis Castriotta\, Art Therapist\, MA\, ATR-BC\, The Henry Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine in support of Creative Forces : National Endowment for the Arts Military Healing Arts Network. When viewing this collection\, you are invited to look beyond the uniform and glimpse into the hearts and minds of the military residents of the great state of Alaska.\n \n\nCreative Forces is an initiative of the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with the U.S. Departments of Defense and Veterans Affairs that seeks to improve the health\, well-being\, and quality of life of military and veteran populations exposed to trauma\, as well as their families and caregivers.
