SUMMARY:Fairbanks Arts July Exhibitions: Counsel Langley and Melanie Lombard
DESCRIPTION:Join Fairbanks Arts in the Bear Gallery for our July exhibitions: At the Edge of All We Have Built by Counsel Langley and Light and Transformation by Melanie Lombard. At the Edge of All We Have Built consists of work from three different series which examine the concept of presence\, the stress of daily life in contrast to the spark of inspiration\, and the idea of the new "normal" brought about by the pandemic. Through mixed media work\, Counsel Langley mixes sci-fi\, outer space\, and big universals with humble and day-to-day themes. In Light and Transformation\, artist Melanie Lombard employs printmaking to explore themes of impermanence\, rebirth\, and transformation. The exhibition features cyanotype and relief prints influenced by the artist's collection of abandoned bird nests. These exhibitions are on view in the Bear Gallery from July 2-31. The gallery is open Monday Saturday\, 12 6 p.m. Visitors are highly encouraged to wear a mask and practice social distancing\, and the gallery currently has a 15-guest limit in place. \n\n\nFor more information about the artists and their exhibitions\, visit fairbanksarts.org.
