SUMMARY:April in the Bear Gallery: Fantastic Fens by Kim McNett & Light + Variable by Katelin Hiller
DESCRIPTION:April in the Bear Gallery: \n\nFantastic Fens by Kim McNett & Light + Variable by Katelin Hiller\n\nOn View: April 4 - 26\, 2025\n\nFirst Friday Opening Reception: Friday\, April 4\, 5 7 p.m.\n\n(Gallery opens at noon on First Fridays)\n\nThe Bear Gallery is located on the third floor of the Alaska Centennial Center for the Arts building in Pioneer Park\, 2300 Airport Way\, Fairbanks\, Alaska. Admission to the Bear Gallery is free of charge and open to the public.\n\nThe Bear Gallery is open Monday - Saturday from 12 - 6 p.m.\n\nJoin Fairbanks Arts Association in the Bear Gallery this April for two colorful exhibitions featuring work by artists Kim McNett and Katelin Hiller. \n\nFantastic Fens by Kim McNett\n\nKim McNett is a naturalist\, artist\, and wilderness adventurer living in Homer\, Alaska. At the heart of her work is a curiosity and love for the natural world. McNett explores the intricacies of the natural world and blends scientific illustration into the realm of impression and imagination.\nFantastic Fens by Kim McNett is supported\, in part\, by a grant from the Alaska State Council on the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts\, with additional support from Rasmuson Foundation.\n\nLight + Variable by Katelin Hiller\n\nKatelin Hiller explores landscapes and seasons in her mixed-media drawings. Hiller is informed by qualities of photography and focuses on light's drama at a high latitude. Hiller's drawings were made on the notion that we are not just connected to but rather part of the natural world\, and the evidence is in our almost subconscious expression of and reaction to weather patterns.\n\nLearn more about our April exhibitors at fairbanksarts.org!\n\n\nOpening Reception\n\nJoin Fairbanks Arts for the First Friday opening reception to meet the artists and experience the work firsthand. \n\nThis exhibition is free and open to the public\, thanks to contributions from our members and donors.
